‘We Caught Them’ — 💔Speaker Johnson Goes Public, Exposes ‘Poison Pill’ Dems Tried To Sneak In

Speaker Mike Johnson said Democrats removed Republican healthcare provisions from a major spending bill that he believes could have reduced insurance premiums, calling the deleted language a “poison pill” that protects insurers instead of lowering costs for families. Speaking in recent interviews on Newsmax and Fox News, Johnson argued that continuing subsidies for insurance companies only increases long-term costs rather than addressing deeper problems in the healthcare system.

He said Republicans had included cost-control measures in their earlier legislation, claiming those changes could have lowered premiums by 12.7 percent before Democrats pushed to remove them during negotiations. According to Johnson, government support for large insurers has failed to make healthcare more affordable and instead contributes to rising premiums across the market. Johnson also criticized the current structure of the Affordable Care Act, saying Republicans want reforms that increase competition and correct market distortions rather than extend what he described as a broken system. Pandemic-era ACA subsidies are scheduled to expire on December 31, and he said House Republicans plan to introduce fresh healthcare proposals later this year.

His remarks come as lawmakers continue debating government funding after the House narrowly approved a temporary spending measure on September 19 to avoid a shutdown. The Senate is still weighing broader funding options, with another vote expected soon. Johnson said once the immediate spending fight is resolved, Republicans will focus on proposals aimed at lowering healthcare costs through structural reform. He argued that American families need lasting solutions because premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses continue to rise. 🇺🇸💼📉
