Jill Biden’s Ex-Husband Charged in Murder of His Current Wife

Authorities in Delaware have confirmed that Bill Stevenson, the former husband of First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, has been formally charged with the first-degree murder of his wife, Linda Stevenson. The arrest followed a comprehensive investigation by the New Castle County Police Department into a death that occurred late last year. Bill Stevenson, now 77, was taken into custody on Monday after a grand jury returned an indictment, highlighting a dark turn in a life recently marked by public criticism of the current presidential administration. The incident traces back to the evening of December 28, when emergency services were summoned to the couple’s Oak Hill residence in Delaware. Responding to a report of a domestic dispute at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers arrived to find Linda Stevenson unresponsive on the living room floor. Despite the immediate efforts of first responders to perform life-saving measures, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Records indicate that it was Bill Stevenson himself who placed the initial 911 call, which was later obtained by media outlets such as TMZ. In the recording, the situation was initially characterized as a potential cardiac arrest, though subsequent investigations led law enforcement to pursue a homicide case. Following his arrest, Bill Stevenson was arraigned and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution. His bail was set at $500,000, which he failed to post, resulting in his continued detention. While the suspect was reportedly cooperative with detectives during the early stages of the inquiry, the transition from a person of interest to a murder suspect came after weeks of forensic analysis and grand jury testimony. The Delaware Division of Forensic Science is currently finalizing the autopsy to solidify the official cause of death, which will serve as a cornerstone of the prosecution’s case during the upcoming trial.

The case has drawn significant national attention due to Stevenson’s past relationship with Dr. Jill Biden. The pair were married from 1970 to 1975, a period that predates her marriage to Joe Biden. In recent years, Stevenson had re-emerged in the public eye, often providing inflammatory commentary regarding the origins of the Bidens’ relationship. He has frequently claimed that his marriage ended due to an affair between Jill Biden and the future president, a narrative that has been consistently denied by the First Lady’s camp. Beyond his personal grievances, Stevenson recently used platforms like The New York Post to criticize the First Lady’s public persona. He described her as a “completely different woman” from the person he once knew, suggesting her current political prominence was driven by intense personal ambition. His critiques also extended to President Joe Biden, whom he labeled a “liar” and a “bad person” during various interviews. These public outbursts have now been overshadowed by the gravity of the legal situation in New Castle County, as the legal system shifts its focus from historical political gossip to the prosecution of a violent felony.
