BREAKING: Kamala Harris leads JD Vance in new 2028 presidential poll, per TPSI.

Kamala Harris Leads JD Vance in Early 2028 TPSI Poll

A viral claim circulating on social media is largely accurate: Former Vice President Kamala Harris holds an approximately eight-point lead over Vice President JD Vance in a new hypothetical 2028 presidential matchup poll conducted by the Public Sentiment Institute (TPSI).

According to the survey, released in late May 2026, Harris garnered 47% support among likely voters, compared to Vance’s 38.9% (rounded to 39%). The poll, which surveyed 893 likely voters with a margin of error of ±3.8%, also showed Harris maintaining similar leads against other prominent Republicans, including Marco Rubio, Ron DeSantis, and Ted Cruz.

The results have spread rapidly across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X, drawing attention from fact-checkers and political news outlets. Many have highlighted the findings as evidence of Democratic strength heading into the next election cycle.

However, political observers urge caution in interpreting the numbers. Conducted more than two years before the 2028 election, the poll represents just one early snapshot in what will likely be a highly volatile race. Polls this far out are often heavily influenced by current name recognition, recent news events, and the national political mood rather than firm voter preferences.

Other recent surveys, such as those from Emerson College, paint a more competitive picture, particularly on the Republican side where Vance remains a formidable contender. Prediction markets and polling aggregates currently continue to favor Republican frontrunners overall for 2028.

In short, while the TPSI poll is real and the viral claim correctly reflects its findings, it should be viewed in proper context—as one data point among many, not a definitive forecast for the distant 2028 contest. The race remains wide open, with plenty of time for shifts in public opinion, candidate announcements, and unforeseen developments.
