The Trump–Mojtaba Khamenei reaction came after Iran announced a major leadership change during the ongoing conflict. Tehran named Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in an airstrike at the beginning of Operation Epic Fury.

During an interview with Trey Yingst, Donald Trump addressed the development, saying Mojtaba Khamenei “cannot live in peace.” He also claimed that early results from the operation had exceeded expectations, describing U.S. and Israeli actions as more successful than initially anticipated.

Trump also warned Iran against threatening the Strait of Hormuz. He said any such move would trigger strikes “twenty times harder,” though he added that he hopes the conflict does not escalate to that point. Operation Epic Fury began on February 28, targeting thousands of sites across Iran, including military command centers, missile facilities, naval assets, and drone production locations. U.S. officials say the campaign continues with sustained strikes and intelligence-driven operations.
