Ashley Biden, the daughter of former President Joe Biden, has filed for divorce from her husband, Howard Krein, after more than 13 years of marriage, according to court records. The 44-year-old submitted the filing Monday in Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas.
On the same day, Biden shared an Instagram post showing her walking through a park and giving a thumbs-up while Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” played in the background. She also posted a message about embracing change, writing that new chapters in life often require setting fresh boundaries and redefining one’s path forward. The couple married in June 2012 in Greenville, Delaware, two years after being introduced by Ashley’s late brother, Beau Biden. During the Democratic National Convention last year, Ashley fondly recalled the wedding while introducing her father. She told the audience that despite serving as vice president at the time, Joe Biden personally helped prepare the reception, even driving around on a John Deere four-wheeler to arrange decorations and seating.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden is also facing renewed political scrutiny. James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said his investigation into Biden’s final months in office could raise legal questions about pardons and executive orders signed using an autopen. Legal scholar Alan Dershowitz noted that such disputes could ultimately be decided in court, particularly if questions arise about whether the former president personally authorized the signatures.
