Trump Predicts Cuba’s Communist Regime Could Fall, Will Put Rubio On It🎬

President Donald Trump said this week that Cuba’s communist government may be approaching a critical moment, suggesting the island could experience major political change soon. Speaking with CNN anchor Dana Bash, Trump reportedly said Cuba is “going to fall pretty soon” and indicated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio will likely take a leading role in U.S. efforts involving the island.

According to Bash, Trump described Cuba as being under severe pressure and said the United States has time to respond because the country appears close to a breaking point. He also reportedly said he plans to “put Marco over there,” referring to Rubio, whose family left Cuba before Fidel Castro fully established communist rule. Rubio has long supported democratic reforms in Cuba and is expected to play a major diplomatic role if conditions continue to worsen. Cuba is facing a deep economic crisis, with rising inflation, fuel shortages, food scarcity, and repeated power outages. A major blackout across western Cuba this week highlighted the seriousness of the country’s energy problems. Analysts warn that fuel reserves may run dangerously low if new supplies are not secured soon.

The crisis has intensified after disruptions to oil shipments from Venezuela, which has long supplied Cuba with subsidized fuel. With fewer shipments arriving, concerns are growing about extended nationwide outages and additional economic hardship. Trump suggested that any future change in Cuba may happen through diplomacy rather than military action. At the White House, he said Cuban officials are already communicating with the United States and described the government as being in significant financial trouble. Policy experts believe any possible transition could involve negotiations covering economic reforms, political concessions, migration cooperation, and broader regional security concerns, while U.S. lawmakers continue debating whether gradual reform or full regime change should be the ultimate goal.
