Marco Rubio Fires Back: Iran’s Strikes Were Avoidable—If They Had Negotiated Honestly

Secretary of State Marco Rubio sharply criticized those claiming the recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran could have been avoided through diplomacy. “They refused to negotiate,” Rubio stated during his appearance on Fox News. “For all these people out there talking about how this could’ve been avoided—they were given every opportunity in multiple talks, and all they did was either reject or delay. That’s not going to happen under President Trump.”

For years, Iran’s regime in Tehran has played a familiar game: dragging out negotiations with diplomats while aggressively advancing its nuclear program and developing long-range missiles capable of reaching American targets. The mullahs repeatedly rejected credible offers, stalled when faced with pressure, and continued pouring resources into terrorism while issuing threats against U.S. allies.

President Trump exercised more patience than previous administrations, which often appeared weak in the face of Iranian deception. Yet endless talks with a regime that treats lying as standard policy were never a viable path. Diplomacy without consequences only emboldened Tehran, allowing it to edge closer to a nuclear breakout.

The strikes represent a necessary shift. No more delays. No more using fake negotiations as cover for military buildup. Under Trump, America has returned to leading with strength and clarity. The world is safer as a result, with a clear message sent that the United States will no longer tolerate existential threats.

The Iranian regime has only itself to blame. Its refusal to engage honestly left no alternative but decisive action to safeguard U.S. interests and prevent a nuclear nightmare in the Middle East.
